"Cold Boss Is My Masked Daddy" Chapter 48
Julian woke long before the sun cleared the New York City skyline.
He had considered leaving the duplex in a skirt, but the thought of a neighbor catching him in the hallway was a cold douse of reality. He pulled on a pair of slim-cut slacks and a heavy sweater instead.
At the appointed time, Julian walked to the curb and found the car waiting. He checked the license plate against his phone and felt a sudden jolt of dread.
The logo on the hood was far too expensive; he had agreed to split the production costs with Orca, and this vehicle alone was in a different tax bracket. He hoped the man wasn't just renting a luxury image to impress him.
The interior was a cathedral of cream-colored sheepskin and starlight fiber-optics. A silent driver held the door, and Julian sank into the scent of expensive leather and chilled macarons. He had no idea where he was being taken.
If it were anyone else, he wouldn't have dared to get in, but he trusted Orca's character—a man who would donate an entire video's earnings over a fan's mistake wasn't likely to be a monster.
The car glided through the streets for barely twenty minutes before stopping in front of a luxury hotel near Central Park. A message buzzed in his palm.
[@Orca]: Go inside. Give the front desk your mobile number. You can use your ID to check in. I won't see your personal information.
Julian looked up at the gilded awning and felt his scalp go numb.
[Julian]: We're splitting the bill, remember?
[@Orca]: I used member points. There is no charge for the room.
Julian hesitated, then stepped into the lobby. The desk clerk didn't just check him in; she paused all other business to handle his registration exclusively. A private butler escorted him to the elevator, detailing the suite's amenities in a low, professional drone. Julian barely heard a word.
The door to the suite opened to a sprawling masterpiece of mahogany and velvet overlooking the park. Orca wasn't there. A heavy, cream-colored card sat on the mahogany desk:
This room is for you. I will not visit or use it. There is a wardrobe selected for you in the closet. Wear what you like—or nothing at all. The choice is yours.
Julian opened the walk-in closet. He froze. A literal gallery of lace and silk hung under the LEDs. Elaborate Rococo gowns, playful shifts, and pieces he recognized from the latest European runways. There were accessories, scarves, and winter overcoats tailored to perfection.
Julian was stunned into silence. Even he, with his secret hobby, would never have spent this much on a wardrobe. He assumed Orca worked in the fashion industry and had "borrowed" the pieces for the shoot.
He chose a modest, charcoal off-the-shoulder top with tulip sleeves and a tan A-line skirt. With a mask and a pair of decorative frames, the transformation was complete: he looked like a high-end, intelligent graduate student.

The driver was waiting downstairs. Julian felt a strange mix of nerves and excitement as they headed to the next destination. He knew Orca was hiding his face just as Julian was, and that this was all a performance, but the surprise of the morning had shifted his mood.
The car stopped at a restaurant where a server led him to a private alcove. Still, no sign of the man.
[Julian]: Where are you? "I'm here."
A voice drifted from behind a silk screen. It was a timbre that sat in the uncanny valley between strange and familiar, making Julian's heart skip. For a heartbeat, he thought of Samuel, but he quickly dismissed the thought.
This was Orca.
They dined with the screen between them. The service was impeccable, the food exquisite, but the arrangement was bizarre. It didn't feel like a date; it felt like a clandestine meeting with a married man.
Julian endured lunch, expecting to finally meet his partner for the "outdoor" portion of the video. Instead, @Orca remained hidden, sending a sharp, professional woman to escort him shopping.
Her name was Jessica, and she was a force of nature. She led Julian through the flagship stores on Fifth Avenue—brands that social media mocked as the "Heiress Starter Pack". Julian wandered through the racks of silk and structured wool, finding nothing he liked.
When Jessica tried to lead him to a third boutique, Julian stopped. "Where is he?"
Jessica checked her watch. "I will escort you to him once you've finished your shopping."
"Where?" Julian countered. "Is he just going to keep dumping me on other people?"
"I apologize," Jessica said smoothly. "But I believe he has a play scheduled for this evening."
Julian didn't want to make Jessica's life difficult. "You don't need to stay. I can walk on my own."
Jessica produced a black titanium credit card. "Please use this for any purchases."
Julian didn't even look at it. "I don't want it."
"Then I must stay with you," Jessica replied, withdrawing the card. "If clothes don't interest you, perhaps jewelry? Or electronics?"
"Tell Orca to come here," Julian commanded.
Jessica stepped away to make a call. When she returned, her expression was a mask of professional regret.
"If you don't wish to shop, I can return you to the hotel to rest until dinner and the theater."
Julian pulled out his phone, his fingers flying over the screen. He called @Orca. No answer.
[Julian]: Where are you? If you don't show up, I'm going home.
[@Orca]: Are you unhappy with the arrangements?
[Julian]: Call me. Now.
The phone buzzed. The voice on the other end was distorted by the connection. "Hello, Julian. It's Orca."
"Where are you? Come and see me."
There was a long, heavy silence. "Is that necessary?"
"You're planning on hiding the entire day, aren't you?" Julian's voice was ice.
"If you wish," Orca replied.
Suddenly, Julian thought of Samuel. They were the same breed—men who controlled everything from the shadows, delivering the coldest truths in the most polite tones.
"What is your goal here, Orca?" Julian snapped into the receiver. "You know I won't spend your money, yet you try to buy me off with shopping trips. I'm here for a video, not a transaction. I'm a student, not some boy looking for a Sugar Daddy".
The silence on the line stretched for five seconds.
"I apologize," Orca said finally. "I have no experience with dating. Beyond these activities, I didn't know what else to provide."
Julian wanted to laugh. A man like Orca, an obvious "player" in the digital world, had no experience? He had told the man he wanted to do ordinary things—eat, walk, maybe catch a movie. Instead, Orca had turned a "One-Day Couple" video into an "Elite Escort" fantasy.
"If you want this collaboration to continue, you will come and see me immediately," Julian said. "Otherwise, it's over."
"I need to prepare," Orca said after a pause. "Give me thirty minutes."
Julian checked the time. "Fine."
"The driver will bring you to me," Orca added.
Julian saw the move instantly—the man was trying to take back the lead. "I'm not going to your play," Julian said. "I'm going to see the fireworks at Disney."
It was the last show of the holiday season. Julian had seen them before with his family, but the memory was tainted by their demands. He wanted to reclaim the experience for himself.
Orca agreed. "I will meet you there in thirty minutes".
