"The Dilemma of a Bomb Disposal Specialist" Chapter 6

"My eyes can no longer distinguish colors. As a demolition expert, this is a major taboo."

Lydia, however, didn't care in the slightest.

"I value your ability; your eyes are merely a bonus."

"If you need them, I can be your eyes."

Silas was stunned for a moment. Facing her bright eyes, he suddenly felt a bit flustered.

Lydia stood up directly and reached out her hand toward Silas.

"The plane is about to take off."

Silas checked the flight information and reached out to grasp Lydia’s hand.

"Then here is to our pleasant cooperation."

...

Sterling family home.

The day after the incident, Seraphina held a grand memorial service for her father.

The attendees were all prominent figures in Sterling City. Everyone couldn't help but sigh when they saw Seraphina’s current state.

"I never imagined the once high-spirited Sterling family would end up like this overnight."

"I heard Silas still hasn't been found. I wonder if it’s because he’s guilty and doesn't dare to come back."

"The Sterling family changed like this the moment Silas left. Could it be that the Sterling family’s luck was actually brought by Silas?"

Hearing Silas’s name, Seraphina looked at her assistant with an obscure expression.

"Still haven't found Silas?"

The assistant shook his head.

"We have searched all over Sterling City and found no trace of him. Could he have already left the city?"

Seraphina clenched her fists tightly.

"Wherever he is, bring him back to me. I want him to pay the price for my father’s death."

As her voice fell, the memorial service officially began.

Seraphina went on stage to give her eulogy, while the large screen behind her simultaneously played clips of Mr. Sterling’s past experiences.

But the moment the large screen turned on, everyone in the audience couldn't help but gasp.

"What is that?"

Chapter 12

Everyone’s gaze followed the sound. On the large screen, footage from when Sophie and Caspian were kidnapped was playing.

In the video, Silas was kneeling on the ground, desperately begging Seraphina to save his daughter first, but immediately after, the screams of Silas’s mother could be heard.

Everyone opened their eyes wide as they saw this scene.

"Seraphina is truly heartless! She actually used this method to force Silas to save Caspian first."

"That’s right! Caspian is just a foster son of the Sterling family. Is he worth more than her own biological daughter?"

"Watching her own daughter get blown to pieces without even blinking—Seraphina is too cold-blooded. Even tigers don't eat their own cubs!"

When Seraphina saw that scene on the large screen, her face darkened instantly. She looked fiercely at the staff member nearby.

"Why haven't you turned off the large screen yet? Do you not want to stay in Sterling City anymore?"

The staff member stood trembling to the side.

"Our backend system has been hacked. The perpetrator's ID shows it's abroad; we can't shut it off."

Caspian happened to walk out of the main hall and saw this scene. He immediately rushed to the stage and grabbed Seraphina’s hand tightly.

"Sister, this must be the work of that loser Silas. He’s always held a grudge over Sophie’s death and deliberately refused to help when Mom and Dad were in trouble just to wait for today to humiliate you in public."

Caspian’s words made Seraphina’s face even gloomier. She looked at her assistant.

"No matter the cost, find Silas immediately."

The assistant looked at Seraphina’s terrifying expression and didn't dare to delay a second, running out immediately.

Then, Seraphina grabbed a chair and was about to smash it into the large screen.

But in the next second, the screen flickered, and the footage that played left everyone in the room staring in shock.

In the footage, Caspian was lying on the sofa with his eyes closed, seemingly asleep.

Seraphina walked over slowly, reaching out to smooth the hair on Caspian’s forehead. Her hand slid slowly down from his cheek to his lips, and finally, unable to restrain herself, she leaned in and kissed him.

The guests in the audience could no longer remain calm after seeing this.

"Seraphina actually fell in love with her own brother. This is truly immoral. Has she no shame left?"

"I was wondering why Seraphina would watch her own child die for the sake of a brother. So the person she loves is her own brother. That’s disgusting."

"Does Seraphina have some kind of special fetish? She’s worse than an animal! No wonder her father died—he was cursed by her."

Caspian’s face turned deathly pale listening to the gossip, and he shook his head incessantly.

"I don't know why Sister would do this to me. I don't know anything, and Sophie’s death has nothing to do with me."

Seeing Caspian trying to distance himself in such a rush, Seraphina’s expression sank instantly. She raised the chair in her hands and smashed it into the large screen.

The screen shattered, glass scattering all over the floor. Seraphina’s anger reached its peak.

"Today is my father’s memorial service. I’d like to see who dares to cause trouble—anyone who does is going against me."

Caspian immediately stepped forward to grab Seraphina’s hand.

"Sister, this is clearly the work of that loser Silas. You must not let him get away with it."

Seraphina glanced at Caspian and forcefully threw him off.

"Silas is your brother-in-law. It’s not your place to call him a loser."

Caspian paused, a flicker of viciousness clearly crossing his eyes, though he covered it up quickly.

Right at that moment, a police car stopped at the entrance. Two police officers stepped out and walked straight toward Seraphina.

"Seraphina, we are from the criminal investigation team. We suspect that your parents' kidnapping case is related to the same perpetrator as the one who kidnapped your daughter last time."

"Furthermore, according to our investigation, the bomb strapped to your daughter was tampered with; once disarmed, it would detonate, killing both the kidnapper and the person disarming it."

"And after our research into the bomb on Caspian, we found that the gunpowder inside had long been cleared out. Even if it detonated, it wouldn't explode. So, we are here today to ask Mr. Caspian: are you aware of this matter?"

Chapter 13

After hearing what the police said, Seraphina stood stunned for a moment, stumbling nearly to her knees.

"So, even if Silas had saved Sophie first back then, the person who would have died would have been Silas and Sophie, while Caspian would have survived no matter what, because there was no gunpowder in his bomb?"

The police nodded.

"Silas must have discovered the abnormality while disarming it, which is why he notified us afterward to focus our research on those two bombs."

A tear fell slowly from Seraphina’s eyes. She looked down at her own hands, her voice rasping.

"So, that was a death trap meticulously set for Silas and the child, and I was the executioner of that trap."

Seraphina gave a self-deprecating laugh, unable to accept the truth, then looked coldly at Caspian, though her gaze no longer held any former doting or love, only suspicion and scrutiny.

"Caspian, don't you plan to explain what’s going on?"

Caspian panicked instantly, immediately clutching Seraphina’s hand.

"Sister, I don't know anything. You must believe me."

Seraphina brushed his hand away coldly.

"You don't know? Then why wasn't there any gunpowder in your bomb?"

Seraphina used considerable force, causing Caspian to fall to the ground. His pale palms pressed against the glass, covered in fresh blood.

"Sister, I really don't know what’s going on? I’m a victim too!"

"This must be a setup Silas created to frame me."

Seraphina looked down at the man in front of her from a position of superiority; there was no affection from the past, only disgust.

"Whether you did it, we will know after the police investigate."

Silas looked at the handcuffs in the police officer's hands, shaking his head fearfully.

"Sister, you can't do this to me. I can't be taken away by the police."

Seraphina stepped forward abruptly and pulled Caspian up from the ground.

"If you haven't done anything wrong, why are you afraid to go to the police station?"

Caspian looked at Seraphina through teary eyes. "Sister, I’m just scared! Besides, as someone from the Sterling family, if I’m taken away by the police, it will have a huge impact on the family's reputation."

Seraphina snorted coldly, throwing Caspian away and letting the police handcuff his hands.

"The Sterling family’s reputation was already lost long ago."

After speaking, Seraphina turned her back on him.

Caspian was taken away on the spot by the police, and the solemn memorial service ended in a farce.

Seraphina left the venue, physically and mentally exhausted. As soon as she reached the entrance, countless media reporters swarmed over, surrounding her.

"CEO, I heard you fell in love with your own brother. Is this true?"

"CEO, do you really have a special fetish? Was the Sterling family's adoption of Caspian meant to satisfy your private, perverted desires? If that’s the case, why did you marry Silas?"
