"When the Billionaire’s Son Chose the Maid" Chapter 12

Rain poured outside the Whitman estate as Anna Collins quietly entered Liam's nursery.

The baby was sleeping peacefully.

For the first time in days, he seemed completely at ease.

But Anna couldn't find peace.

The copied documents she had discovered remained hidden inside a folder beneath her clothes.

And the more she thought about the alterations, the more questions surfaced.

Who changed the records?

Why?

And most importantly...

What were they trying to hide?

She stepped closer to the crib and gently brushed a hand across Liam's forehead.

"I'll find the truth."

The baby sighed softly in his sleep.

A strange ache tightened inside Anna's chest.

Because something deep inside her told her this story was much bigger than she had imagined.

Much bigger.

The following morning, Daniel Whitman arrived early at the private hospital where Liam had been born.

Dr. Camila Morgan was already waiting in her office.

The obstetrician looked visibly nervous.

Unusual for someone with her experience.

Daniel sat down across from her.

"Anna found irregularities in the records."

Dr. Morgan remained silent.

"I want to know exactly what happened."

The doctor folded her hands on the desk.

"I've been reviewing the archived files."

Daniel frowned.

"And?"

She inhaled slowly.

"There are records that don't make sense."

His heartbeat quickened.

"What do you mean?"

"Some files are missing."

Daniel stared at her.

"What?"

"Others appear to have been replaced."

The room suddenly felt colder.

For several seconds, he couldn't speak.

This was no longer a simple administrative mistake.

It felt deliberate.

Planned.

Someone had tampered with the records.

Someone with privileged access.

"Are you telling me my son's birth records were altered?"

Dr. Morgan hesitated.

Then nodded.

"Yes."

The single word hit him like an explosion.

That afternoon, Liam underwent a new series of medical tests.

Daniel had demanded a complete evaluation.

No exceptions.

No interference.

And no doctors connected to the family.

He wanted real answers.

And he intended to get them.

Anna remained beside Liam throughout the entire process.

Holding his tiny hand.

Offering comfort.

Providing security.

As always.

Liam cried when blood samples were taken.

But he calmed almost immediately when he heard Anna's voice.

The physician overseeing the examination watched the interaction quietly.

Eventually, he smiled.

"He really likes you."

Anna smiled back.

"I like him too."

But behind that smile was growing concern.

Because she felt something was about to happen.

Something important.

Something that could change everything.

The test results arrived later that night.

Daniel received the call directly in his office.

His expression changed instantly.

First surprise.

Then confusion.

And finally...

Pure shock.

"Are you certain?"

The doctor on the other end answered immediately.

"I checked three times."

Daniel slowly stood.

"The laboratory confirmed it?"

"Yes."

The call ended.

Daniel remained motionless.

Staring into empty space.

Trying to process what he had just heard.

But his mind refused to accept it.

Because it was impossible.

Absolutely impossible.

Or at least it should have been.

Several minutes later, Anna found Daniel standing beside the library window.

He looked different.

Paler.

More tense.

More distant.

"Mr. Whitman?"

He didn't respond immediately.

When he finally turned toward her, his eyes were filled with uncertainty.

"The test results came back."

Anna's heart immediately began racing.

"And Liam?"

"He's healthy."

Relief washed through her.

But she immediately sensed there was more.

Much more.

"Then what happened?"

Daniel hesitated.

Then spoke.

"It's his blood type."

Anna frowned.

"What about it?"

Daniel ran a hand through his hair.

Clearly shaken.

"It doesn't match the official records."

For a moment, the world seemed to stop.

Anna froze.

"What?"

"The documents say one thing."

He swallowed hard.

"The tests say something completely different."

A chill crawled down Anna's spine.

Because that left only two possibilities.

Either the tests were wrong.

Or the documents were lying.

And considering everything they had already uncovered...

The second possibility seemed increasingly likely.

That night, Anna reviewed every document again.

Every signature.

Every stamp.

Every page.

Every detail.

And the more she studied them...

The more questions emerged.

The birth records.

The altered files.

The missing documents.

The mysterious powder.

The hidden pins.

The disabled security cameras.

Everything seemed connected.

Everything.

Yet she still couldn't see the full picture.

One crucial piece was missing.

The most important piece.

Meanwhile, in the master bedroom, Isabella Whitman stood by the window watching the rain fall outside.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

A message.

No name.

No photo.

Only an unknown number.

She read it quickly.

And all the color drained from her face.

For a few brief seconds.

Only a few.

She looked genuinely frightened.

Then she immediately deleted the message.

As if it had never existed.

But her hands were shaking.

For the first time in a very long time.

Later that evening, Daniel entered the room.

He found his wife sitting silently on the edge of the bed.

Distant.

Unusually quiet.

He closed the door behind him.

Without taking his eyes off her.

"We need to talk."

Isabella looked up.

Trying to appear calm.

"What happened?"

Daniel slowly approached.

"The test results came back."

For a fraction of a second—

she froze.

Only for a moment.

But it was enough.

Daniel noticed.

And it only deepened his suspicions.

"Liam's blood type doesn't match the official records."

Isabella's face became completely expressionless.

Too expressionless.

No surprise.

No confusion.

No emotion.

Almost as if she had expected this conversation.

"What does that mean?"

Daniel continued watching her.

Carefully.

"It means that's exactly what I'm trying to find out."

The silence that followed became suffocating.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

Then Daniel asked the question that changed everything.

The question he never imagined he would need to ask.

The question he never believed would leave his lips.

"Isabella..."

His voice was lower now.

Colder.

More serious.

"Is there anything about Liam's birth that you never told me?"

Their eyes locked.

And for the first time since their marriage began...

Daniel felt as though he was staring at a complete stranger.

Back in the nursery, Anna carefully closed the folder of documents.

Her heart was pounding.

She didn't know exactly what was happening.

Not yet.

But she knew one thing.

The Whitman family's secret was beginning to surface.

Slowly.

Layer by layer.

And when the truth finally emerged...

Nothing would ever be the same again.
