"Goodbye, My Cold Husband: Reborn to Hate You" Chapter 2

"No, I’m just happy." Luna stood up wobbly, speaking with mock seriousness. "The thought of Gideon disappearing from my life makes me want to celebrate. Annie, shall we go for another round?"

"..." Annie didn't say a word because she saw a cold-faced man standing not far behind Luna.

Although Annie felt it was a bit dishonorable to abandon Luna now, their friendship probably—mostly likely—couldn't outweigh her fear of this man.

After a brief weighing of options, she ran.

Just as Luna was wondering why she ran as fast as a rabbit, the nausea hit again. She quickly leaned over, feeling as if her internal organs were about to come out.

At that moment, a deep blue pocket square was handed to her from the side. Luna took it, whispered a small thank you, wiped her mouth, and tossed it on the ground like trash.

Behind her, the man’s face grew even darker.

Finally feeling better after throwing up, Luna turned around and leaned against the wall. Her eyes were barely open as she struggled to look at the man in front of her. Suddenly, she reached out her hand and grinned. "You have such beautiful eyes."

Gideon looked at the hand inches away from his face. He didn't move, watching expressionlessly to see what new tricks she would pull.

"Hey, handsome, are you available?" Luna retracted her hand and tried her best to mimic what she’d seen on TV. She grabbed his tie, leaned against him, and teased innocently, "It’s late at night, just a man and a woman... I’m quite pretty too. Don’t you feel some kind of impulse?"

In her last life, she was desperately in love with Gideon, but in three years of marriage, he hadn't even wanted to touch her finger. To be honest, she was quite resentful. She had always heard that sort of thing was quite pleasurable, so to avoid repeating the same mistake, she decided to have a one-night stand first. That way, she wouldn't end up pinning her whole heart on him again.

Hearing this, Gideon finally couldn't help but reach out and swat her hand away. "Luna, are you really this shameless before we've even married?"

"Married?" She let out a couple of laughs from her throat. "The stupidest thing I ever did was marry Gideon. There are so many good men in this world; why should I hang myself on his one tree? He doesn't care if I die anyway, so why should I stay chaste for him?"

"Is this your new tactic?"

"Handsome, why do you talk so much? If you’re not interested, I’ll go find someone else. I refuse to believe I can't even find one partner for a one-night stand tonight." With that, she groped the wall and stumbled forward.

Gideon looked at her back, his handsome brow furrowed slightly.

Chapter 4: I Am Her Husband

"Hi, handsome, are you available?"

At the bar entrance, it was the prime time for people coming and going. She hardly even looked at the man's appearance before grabbing him and speaking enthusiastically.

The man was also out looking for fun. Seeing her so open, he assumed she was a professional and didn't hesitate. He directly wrapped his arm around her waist and answered suggestively, "Sure. Where to?"

"To..." Luna had just opened her mouth when her wrist was suddenly yanked hard. She stumbled out of the man's embrace.

"What's wrong with you? Don't you know who got here first?" The man, seeing his arms were empty, was very dissatisfied.

Gideon looked at the person beside him who looked ready to collapse at any moment. His voice was as cold as ice. "I am her husband."

With that, without waiting for the man to react, he dragged her away.

Luna’s head was already spinning, and being dragged so roughly made her unable to hold it back. She threw up directly all over him.

...

Perhaps it was the alcohol, but Luna slept soundly. In her dream, Gideon had fallen in love with her.

Actually, everyone thought she had fallen for him at first sight at a gala and then used the shares Grandpa Arthur gave her before he passed away as leverage to marry him.

But she had liked him since she was very young. Back then, he was the object of everyone's admiration and attention. She only dared to watch from afar, never hoping to get close.

Perhaps it was because her obsession was so deep that she ended up hurting Gideon and herself.

She should have understood long ago. He didn't love her. No matter what she did, he didn't love her.

Luna opened her eyes and looked at the somewhat familiar room, momentarily thinking she had returned to three years later.

This was... Gideon's room.

After marrying him in her previous life, she had moved in with her heart full of excitement. He hadn't said a word, but from then on, he moved to the study.

That was when she realized that Gideon seemed to hate her.

Luna rubbed her temples. Her head felt like it was splitting. By the end of last night, she didn't even remember how much she had drunk. Where was Annie? Surely she hadn't dumped her halfway?

Luna ran her hands through her hair and ran downstairs without even putting on shoes.

In the dining room, Gideon was eating breakfast. Even hearing the noise, he didn't look up.

"Mr. Gideon, may I ask why I am in your room?" She stood still at the table, her voice unusually cold.

Regarding her turning the tables on him, Gideon only gave her a cold glance. "Don't you know what you did yourself?"

"I don't. If I did something scandalous, please make it clear, Mr. Gideon, to avoid any bad rumors spreading later. It wouldn't be good for anyone."

Mr. Gideon? That was certainly a distant way to address him.

"Luna, don't think I don't know your little tricks. I've said it before: I can give you what you want, but you must know your place. Not showing up at the courthouse yesterday and playing the fool last night—this 'playing hard to get' act won't work on me."

Luna’s lips quirked into a cold sneer. "You might be overthinking it, Mr. Gideon. The reason I didn't go to the courthouse is that I felt there was nothing left to say to you. I signed the share transfer agreement right after I was discharged yesterday. It will take effect and be delivered to your office by this afternoon at the latest. I only hope this is the last time we meet. Oh, and regardless of what happened last night, thank you for the shelter."

After she finished speaking, she turned and strode away.

Without a single hint of lingering attachment.

She had truly loved enough, and she was scared of it. She didn't want to experience that heart-wrenching feeling from her previous life again.

Chapter 5: There Was Never Anything Between Us

It wasn't until she walked out the door that Gideon put down his chopsticks, his eyes full of impatience.

He stood up, and when he saw the pair of shoes that didn't belong to him lying quietly by the door, he frowned slightly.

After walking about ten meters, Luna realized belatedly that she wasn't wearing shoes. But it was impossible for her to go back and get them now. As the saying goes, the barefooted don't fear those with shoes.

She had her final bit of pride.

The asphalt road was hard and hurt her feet, and with the occasional small pebbles, Luna’s pace gradually slowed. The pain in her feet slowly replaced the pain in her heart.

Just then, a black sedan approached from behind. It paused slightly in front of her and threw out a pair of shoes.

Then, it sped away.

Luna looked at the shoes that had rolled a few times before stopping in front of her like trash. She let out a couple of cold laughs, sat down on the spot, and put them on.

...

As soon as Gideon reached his office, Xavier knocked and entered with a hesitant look. "Sir, there's something I find very strange..."

"Speak."

"I received the share transfer agreement from Miss Luna’s lawyer this morning. Before, she refused to give up the shares no matter what, but now she’s transferred them so easily. I was afraid there might be a problem, so I had it checked. All the shares are normal and valid."

Gideon’s movements paused as he remembered what Luna had said this morning.

Seeing him remain silent, Xavier asked again, "Sir? How should we handle this?"

"Have Luna come see me."

"...Sir, I forgot one thing. There is a condition attached to the agreement sent by the lawyer."

Gideon sneered. He knew that woman couldn't have suddenly changed her nature.

Xavier hesitated before speaking. "The condition says that as long as you accept this transfer agreement, you can never appear in Miss Luna’s sight again. Otherwise, all the shares will be donated to charity."
