"The Billionaire Can Read My Mind: My Runaway Wife is a Mystic" Chapter 50
Chapter 50: Changing Face Faster Than Turning Pages
Seren Thorne: "?"
"Didn't you say you weren't going?"
{The dog man really changes his face faster than turning the pages of a book.}
Alaric Vane gave a cold huff.
If he didn't go, he suspected a vast "Green Prairie" (infidelity) would soon be growing over his head.
"I suddenly felt like going," he explained casually. Alaric took Seren’s hand and led her outside with his long strides.
Alaric had a video conference around ten o'clock, so he had already changed into a suit early on. This attire didn't look out of place for attending a funeral.
Seren recoiled slightly, trying to wrench her hand from Alaric’s grasp.
"Alaric Vane, let go of your paws!"
Did she ever agree to hold hands? He just grabbed her!
Alaric didn't let go; instead, he applied a bit more force, his broad and warm palm tightly enveloping her hand. Without looking back, he said, "Choose between holding hands or a princess carry. If you don't want to hold hands, I can just carry you out."
Seren: "?"
"Did you take the wrong medicine?"
Alaric ignored her and continued walking out unhurriedly.
Although she didn't know what kind of fit Alaric was throwing, Seren knew his temperament. If she really pushed him away, the dog man would definitely do exactly as he said and carry her out.
It was currently the time for the servants to clean, and there were people everywhere inside and outside the villa. She didn't want to be carried out by Alaric, so she ultimately chose to shut her mouth and let him lead her out.
The two exited the villa, where Sebastian North’s car was already parked at the entrance.
The man was dressed in a suit and leather shoes, leaning against the side of the car. The well-tailored suit accentuated his refined and elegant temperament.
Seeing Alaric and Seren emerge together, Sebastian’s gaze lingered for a moment on their clasped hands before moving away unobtrusively. He greeted Alaric with a smile:
"Mr. Vane, I thought you wouldn't be attending the Moore funeral. Did you have a sudden change of heart?"
A business smile appeared on Alaric’s face as well, though it didn't reach his eyes and looked somewhat hypocritical. "I hadn't planned on going, but Seren said she would be lonely and afraid by herself and insisted I accompany her. I had no choice but to follow."
Hearing this, Sebastian’s eyes dimmed.
Just as he was about to speak, he heard Seren’s inner voice in his ear: {What is wrong with this dog man? Didn't he insist on going himself just now?}
Sebastian was momentarily stunned, then let out a sudden laugh.
Now it was Alaric’s turn to look displeased. Sometimes he really wanted to muffle Seren’s thoughts, but unfortunately, he couldn't.
Since Sebastian’s laugh came out of nowhere, Seren was left completely bewildered.

Sebastian said, "Since Mr. and Mrs. Vane have such a good relationship, I won't disturb you further. See you at the funeral."
With that, Sebastian turned and got into his car.
Besides the driver, Lydia North was also sitting inside. After the driver started the car, Lydia showed Sebastian the words she had already written on her tablet.
[Brother, Beautiful Sister is already married. Being the 'other man' is wrong.]
After learning about the suffering Lydia had endured over the years, Sebastian planned to spend more time with his sister whenever possible. Since many people would be at the funeral today, he brought her along to let her experience the outside world.
Reading the content on the tablet, Sebastian didn't take it to heart. He ruffled the girl's head and said, "Miss Thorne does not like Alaric Vane. They aren't happy together; such a marriage is meaningless."
Lydia thought for a moment and typed again: [But Beautiful Sister doesn't like you either.]
Sebastian smiled and said, "That's why I will work hard to make her like me."
This was the conclusion he had reached after thinking all night. He already had some favorable feelings for Seren, and the psychologist had mentioned yesterday that finding someone Lydia liked to accompany her could help improve her mental state.
If Seren could marry him, it would be a win-win situation. Since Seren and Alaric had no real feelings for each other, it wouldn't matter if he intervened.
Lydia frowned, still feeling that her brother was wrong. However, before she could type any more advice, Sebastian spoke again: "Lydia, I have my own considerations regarding certain matters. Do not interfere."
His voice was slightly colder than the gentle tone from before. Having just escaped Ms. Dan’s clutches, Lydia was still sensitive and fragile. Hearing the change in her brother's tone, she shrank back slightly and said no more.
Sensing her nervousness and panic, Sebastian began to reflect on whether his tone had been too harsh. He took his sister's hand and promised, "Lydia, don't worry. I won't have any substantial developments with Miss Thorne before she is divorced. Your brother won't become a 'homewrecker'."
Lydia wanted to say that even without "substantial developments," jumping out to provoke the legal husband like he just did was already homewrecker behavior. But she knew that continuing to argue would only upset him, so she simply nodded silently.
On the other side.
Seren sat in Alaric’s car, still muttering, "If you were going to the funeral, you should have said so earlier. You made Mr. North make a trip for nothing."
In the few minutes since Sebastian’s car left, Seren had mentioned the man in nearly every sentence.
Alaric endured it for a while before he finally lost his patience and shot her a sideways glance. "Mention that man again, and I’ll have the bank freeze your cards right now."
Seren: "..."
Fine, you're powerful, you're the boss.
For the rest of the trip, Seren didn't mention Sebastian North again.
The car drove all the way to the Moore house. The two got out and entered the villa, hearing faint sounds of crying from a distance.
"Wooo... my husband was only forty-seven this year. Heaven is truly unfair to him, taking his life so early, wooo..."
Seren looked up and saw Mrs. Moore dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief while speaking to relatives, looking heartbroken. Seren’s gaze accidentally brushed past the handkerchief and she caught a glimpse of eye drops wrapped inside. Her lips twitched.
She can't even force out tears, so she's using eye drops as a substitute.
Being unplugged by his own wife—this Mr. Moore was quite pitiful.
However, Seren felt no sympathy for him. A scumbag who had illegitimate children everywhere and had even thrown away his legal wife’s daughter to bring a mistress's daughter home to enjoy wealth deserved what he got.
Now that the old scoundrel was gone and his body had already been cremated, the illegitimate children wouldn't be able to provide evidence of a blood relation. The Moore family assets could only go to Mrs. Moore and Evangeline Frost.
While the Moores couldn't compare to the Norths or the Vanes, they were still a prestigious family in the city with a net worth of tens of billions. Mrs. Moore only had one biological daughter, so all those billions would eventually belong to the female lead.
{The female lead’s luck is truly great. Even though the marriage line with the male lead is broken, Heaven compensated her with tens of billions in assets.}
{Chikoushou! (Damn it!) I’m so jealous! Let me play two episodes of such a satisfying script!}
