"The Silver Cross: My Angel, My Monster" Chapter 63
Chapter 63: The Reopened Candy House (Part II)
And so, Li became a regular at the candy house, arriving every day without fail. Every time he came, he ordered "Incineration," then sat opposite Yang Weisheng, leisurely sipping the drink I mixed while trying to persuade me to jump ship to his bar and become his exclusive bartender. He spoke of how generous the salary was and how kind the boss could be. Whenever this happened, Yang Weisheng’s face would turn as black as the bottom of a burnt pot. I could only ignore Li's presence, truly fearing that one day he might play with fire and get burned; it wouldn't matter if he got scorched, but it would be terrible if a small fish like me got caught in the crossfire.
Therefore, I always watched with trepidation, afraid that Li would truly push things too far and provoke the Big Boss.
The candy house was a garden-style building in the Rococo style; Yang Weisheng had good taste. Since the number of staff had increased, he used his will to expand the space, just as he had once used his will to make the candy house disappear. His ability to use magic so effortlessly was truly enviable; next time, I’ll have to ask him if he knows the secret of turning stone into gold.
Yang Weisheng, Alastor, Usan, Little Mountain, Orlando, and I each had our own room, properly allocated.
A Demon King, two vampires, and three monsters—it was a very peculiar combination. However, because we had several handsome men holding the fort, the business at the candy house was so good every day that it made others envious. Often, the lady who owned the boutique women's clothing store to the left and the lady from the tailor shop to the right would come to "visit." They called it a visit, but in reality, it was to look at the handsome men. The boutique owner was a fashionable girl in her early twenties, just at the age where her heart was easily stirred. Every time she saw Alastor, her eyes would fix on him so intensely she couldn't pull them away. The two would flirt and exchange glances for a long while, and then the girl, completely dazed and infatuated, would foolishly buy a mountain of candy to take back.
Business grew livelier by the day; the "handsome guy effect" was indeed extraordinary. With hands short, I finally kicked Usan out of his room to help.
Usan’s standard look was being bare-chested and carrying a large bow on his back. While it was stylish and cool, walking down the street like that would cause too high a turnaround rate. Moreover, the look was too flashy and easily drew attention; we are demons, after all, and we shouldn't be too arrogant. It's better to keep a low profile.
Since I found it an eyesore to see him always shirtless with a bow, I bought him a white T-shirt. On the front of the shirt was a giant delinquent rabbit—the creative inspiration came from Morven’s pajamas. Under my threats and inducements, Usan finally reluctantly put down the bow on his back and donned the T-shirt. Surprisingly, once dressed up, this guy actually looked quite decent.

A wolf is a proud and solitary animal, looking down on everyone except its own kind. As the King of the Wolf Tribe, Usan was naturally a fellow so proud it made one want to hit him.
However, Usan had been in a foul mood lately, and I was more than happy to watch the show because the lady from the tailor shop to the right had taken a liking to him. The tailor shop owner was a woman around twenty-five or twenty-six, with a direct and fiery personality. Everyone knew she liked Usan because every time she finished work, she would sit in the candy house and stare at him—literally stare, without even blinking.
"Go, table six ordered a cappuccino," I said, pointing my finger.
Glancing at the woman at table six wearing a white modified cheongsam, Usan’s face immediately darkened.
I arched an eyebrow. "Still not going?"
"Let Alastor go," Usan said, his face sour.
"Alastor is busy." I tilted my chin, gesturing toward Alastor, who was nearby "busy" flirting with girls.
"Let Orlando go."
I turned my head and looked with a smile at Orlando, who was sitting at table seven licking a lollipop. He had tucked away his transparent wings and was wearing a small blue T-shirt I bought for him—a very eye-catching little boy. Because he looked only five or six years old, I told the public he was a distant little cousin. "He’s under eighteen. Our candy house is a legal business; we don't use child labor."
"He is seven hundred and sixty-two years old!" Usan was about to explode with rage. "I’m even a year younger than him!"
"But you look much more 'mature' than him," I grinned.
"Little Mountain, go!"
"His height makes things difficult."
Glancing at the cold Yang Weisheng, Usan realized it was hopeless and crossly carried the coffee to table six.
"Usan..." The tailor shop owner looked at him with sparkling eyes.
Usan set down the coffee and turned to leave.
The tailor shop owner was quick and grabbed hold of him. She turned and took a bag from behind her, handing it to him. "I made a set of clothes for you. I don't know if they fit, why don't you try them on? If they don't fit, give them back to me and I'll alter them for you?"
Usan frowned, wanting to shake her off, but he hesitated for a moment upon seeing those fair, delicate hands. The hesitation lasted only a second; the next moment, with a cold face, he tried to pull his hand away.
He jerked once, but couldn't get free.
He jerked again, but that seemingly delicate hand remained firmly latched onto his arm.
I couldn't help but burst out laughing, earning a furious glare from Usan.
The tailor shop owner was named Kaan Tung. Though she had a fiery temper, she was actually very beautiful; however, her "damsel-in-distress" appearance was a total mismatch for her personality.
It wasn't a coincidence that she took a liking to Usan; the story began three days ago.
That day, on a whim, she came to visit the candy house. She accidentally tripped while entering the door, and just as she was about to get up, Usan, who had just woken up, happened to be coming downstairs. Seeing a delicate beauty in a cheongsam frowning and nursing her foot, he gave her a hand.
The beauty looked up, and the moment she saw Usan, the legendary love at first sight happened magnificently.
Facts prove that judging by appearances is wrong. Beneath that delicate, exquisite face and frail, thin frame, Kaan Tung actually possessed monstrous strength. When we saw her easily carrying two massive gas tanks into the tailor shop with her dainty hands, we understood the true meaning of "appearances can be deceiving."
So, for Usan to try and shake off that seemingly delicate hand was, in reality, easier said than done.
Of course, he absolutely could not use magic in public; it was not allowed.
I wouldn't allow it.
Because I still wanted to stay peacefully on Happiness Street. If everyone found out this was a demon stronghold, wouldn't all hell break loose?
Only when Usan gritted his teeth and nodded with a scowl, agreeing to accept the clothes, did Kaan Tung happily leave the candy house, forgetting to even drink the cappuccino she had ordered.
Indeed, her interest was not in the coffee.
As they grew more familiar over time, Kaan Tung became a well-known face, often making clothes to give to Usan, even though he never wore them.
