"The Silver Cross: My Angel, My Monster" Chapter 42
Chapter 42: King of Demons (Part I)
The demons were in a state of revelry. I watched with great amusement as Alastor moved among the beauties of the various demon clans like a social butterfly, surrounded on all sides and clearly enjoying himself too much to think of anything else.
"Lord Archon..." A soft, melting plea made me shudder all over. I couldn't help but turn to look, only to see a beauty swaying her slender, supple waist, holding a wine glass in her pale, delicate hand as she walked gracefully toward Alastor.
It was undeniable that she was a beauty, and a breathtaking one at that.
But there were no humans here, only demons; I had no idea what this beauty’s true form actually looked like. I indulged in a bit of malicious daydreaming: would she suddenly reveal her true form right when they were in the middle of a tender moment, scaring our great Lord Archon out of his wits? Just like Xu Xian, whose soul nearly left his body when he saw the White Snake's true form, or Supreme Treasure, who was terrified by the skeletal version of Bak Jing-jing. Hehehe...
While I was amusing myself with these endless fantasies, I suddenly felt a sinister gaze sticking to me, making me extremely uncomfortable.
It was my specific fear of serpents. I whipped my head around and, sure enough, saw Nazga walking toward me, swirling a wine glass.
"Noble Queen, may I have the honor of offering you a drink?" Nazga smiled elegantly, lightly swishing the liquid in the crystal glass.
I instinctively took a step back.
A slender, pale hand reached out from my side and took the glass at just the right moment. "Her Majesty never drinks." Albus had appeared beside me at some unknown moment. He intercepted the glass and tilted his head back, draining it in one gulp, his face remaining expressionless.
Nazga didn't seem to mind; he laughed loudly. "The Arbiter has quite the capacity. In that case, why not have another?"
Albus was forcibly dragged into the drinking competition. I watched with a mix of amusement and helplessness as he coolly competed in the drinking bout.
"Crafty Albus, actually stealing my spotlight to play the hero saving the beauty." Alastor leaned in with a cheeky grin.
I rolled my eyes at him. "Shouldn't you be off whispering sweet nothings to your beauties? What are you waiting for?"
"Heaven be my witness, I'm selling my looks to win people over for Your Majesty. This is a 'honey trap'; I'm sacrificing my 'small self' for Your Majesty's great cause..." Alastor blinked his watery eyes, looking quite aggrieved.
I couldn't help but make a gagging gesture.
Alastor’s grin grew even more mischievous. "You're jealous."
Upon hearing this, I burst into a laugh that showed absolutely no respect for his ego.
"Cruel woman, the most poisonous thing is a woman's heart... what would it hurt to let me have my fantasies..." Alastor walked away with his head hanging piteously, playing the role of the tragic supporting character to the hilt. Unfortunately, he hadn't gone two steps before his true colors showed, making rapid progress with the demon beauties.

Some were drinking, some were surrounded by lovers. I smiled as I watched the hall grow more and more lively, boredly sipping the red liquid in my crystal glass mouthful by mouthful.
But somewhere in my heart, a void was slowly growing. How did I let myself end up at this point?
Aurora, oh Aurora, what exactly are you now?
Without warning, I suddenly heard someone calling me.
Who?
I looked around and my eyes suddenly widened. Standing in the shadows just outside the main door was a youth who looked about fifteen or sixteen years old. His pitch-black eyes held a hint of indifference.
Wasn't that the owner of the Splendid Candy House, my boss who had been missing for ages—Solano?
How could he appear here? Isn't this the Demon Realm? And inside the vampire castle... how did he get in?
I had too many questions to ask him. I hurriedly stood up and walked toward him. In the noise of the party, no one noticed my departure.
"Boss! How can you be here!" The warmth of seeing a familiar human made me rush to his side involuntarily, grabbing his hand. "Why did the candy house suddenly vanish? Where have you been all this time? I couldn't find you anywhere..."
Clutching his hand tightly, a string of questions poured out of my mouth.
He stared blankly at me holding his hand and didn't pull away; he just let me hold it. Realizing a second too late that my actions were too abrupt, I quickly let go.
Solano lowered his gaze, looking at the hand I had just released. His thick black lashes masked his eyes, and he actually looked somewhat disappointed.
"How did you get in here? Let me get you out of here first. If those monsters see you, they'll eat you until there isn't even a bone left..."
"I came to take you away, Lilith." He spoke, ignoring my rambling.
"What?" I froze, blinking my eyes in total confusion.
"You have obtained your power. Come back with me." He looked up at me, his eyes an abyssal, bottomless black.
I instinctively took a step back.
"Uh... who exactly is Lilith?"
"My wife."
My brain short-circuited a bit.
Lilith = Solano's wife = Me?
By logical extension, Lilith = me, and Solano's wife = me?!
"What kind of joke is this? Are you crazy?" My eyes widened, and I let out a laugh of disbelief.
A fifteen or sixteen-year-old youth suddenly pops out and says I'm his wife and calls me Lilith?
Since when did I get married? And to a younger guy at that... I was going crazy.
Solano looked at me, his deep black eyes devoid of even a hint of laughter.
I suddenly felt a chill and shivered involuntarily.
Lilith?
I blinked, suddenly dumbstruck. Wasn't Lilith the Night Demoness from Sumerian mythology, the lover of Satan?
She was worshipped as the Mother of Demons and a Creator Goddess.
According to the ancient holy books of the vampires, Lilith not only participated in the creation of the world but also held half of the power in the universe—the power of chaos and darkness—standing in opposition to God, who represented order and light. She was the origin of vampires, she created the blood-kin, she appeared in the myths of the end times, and she was the most powerful vampire of all...
...Mythology.
Lilith is fundamentally a figure that exists in myths.
I laughed out loud and glanced askance at Solano. "Boss, I'm your wife?"
Solano nodded very solemnly.
I feigned gravity and leaned in with a mysterious expression. "Then could it be... that you are the legendary fallen angel Samael, the great demon king called Satan?"
"You remember me?" His dark eyes shifted slightly, tinged with a bit of joy.
Great, just great. Everyone has gone insane.
I clutched my stomach and laughed until I shook.
