"The Silver Cross: My Angel, My Monster" Chapter 31
Chapter 31: My Scion (Part I)
Squatting in the pitch-black corridor, I began to sigh and lament.
"Where did this little pitiful thing come from..." a laughing voice said.
I looked up and saw a pair of deep blue eyes. "Alastor?"
He knelt down, meeting my gaze at eye level.
I gave a cheer and grabbed his arm; I had finally found my savior.
Alastor looked completely flattered. "Ah... finally discovered my good points? Decided to elope with me?"
I pinched his arm; this man really would take a mile if you gave him an inch.
"Alastor, send me back."
"As you command!" Alastor nodded with a grin.
"I mean... back to the human world."
Alastor looked at me but didn't speak.
"Send me back to the human world, please?" Tilting my head up, I looked at him. "Sol has already withdrawn from the Demon Realm, so the gates to the human world should be clear now."
It was time to go back...
"Alright, I'll take you back." Alastor stared at me for a long time before suddenly reaching out to pat my head.
"It's almost dawn. You go sleep. I'll go say goodbye to Rose, and we'll leave tonight!" I said happily.
"No," Alastor shook his head. "We leave now."
My eyes widened. "It's almost morning! How can you stand the sunlight?"
"Who am I? I am an Elder! A vampire who has lived for over six hundred years—a figure equivalent to an Archon!" Alastor said cockily, then gave me a look of disdain. "How could I be the same as you..." Having said that, he took my hand and led me outside.
The east showed a pale horizon; the sky was beginning to brighten slightly. The entire castle had returned to tranquility—a dark, heavy, deathly silence.
Alastor pulled me along, and we exited the castle without any obstacles.
"Aren't you going to say goodbye to the Queen?"
"No need."
"What about Rose..."
"No need."
Although I had been in the Demon Realm for some time, I had either been recovering in Rose's small wooden cabin or trapped in the castle. I hadn't even seen what the Demon Realm really looked like, so I looked around in high spirits as we walked.
After looking for a while, I realized it wasn't much different from the human world—the same villages, the same flowers, grass, and trees.
As the sun rose, I noticed Alastor's expression turn grim. Wrapped in his thick black cloak, his face became a terrifying shade of pale blue.
"Alastor, let's rest." I pulled at his hand, feeling worried.
Before my voice had even faded, Alastor stopped in his tracks.
"Look who we have here! Isn't this our great Archon?"
Several grotesque-looking fellows blocked our path, mocking and teasing us.
Alastor's expression shifted slightly, and he pulled me behind him guardedly.
"Hehe, it's truly rare to encounter the Archon in broad daylight. Oh? Who is this little beauty?"

"I'm on urgent business. Don't provoke me," Alastor frowned.
"Hahaha..." They laughed as if they had heard the funniest joke in the world, their faces then turning sinister. "It's daytime. What can you possibly do?"
Alastor shot them a grinning glance, suddenly let go of my hand, and approached the nearest unlucky soul with incredible speed. His fingers formed a claw, and he ripped a still-beating heart straight out of the man's chest.
Tossing the bloody heart in front of them, Alastor laughed arrogantly. "Even in the daytime, dealing with trash like you is more than easy. I'll give you one second to vanish from my sight. Now!"
Without a moment's hesitation, the monsters blocking the way scattered and fled.
Alastor remained in his posture without moving. Sensing something was wrong, I hurried forward to support him, only to see the parts of his body exposed to the sun beginning to turn charred and black.
"Sigh, I'm going to be disfigured..." Alastor lamented.
"Alastor?!" I cried out.
"There's a village ahead. Go there." Alastor put his arm around me, taking the chance to cop a feel. "Hold me up; I've got no strength left."
Ignoring everything else, I half-dragged and half-carried him toward the village he mentioned. Alastor gradually lost consciousness, but the village was still very far away.
"Alastor, isn't there anywhere closer? Alastor?"
Alastor didn't move.
I started to get scared.
Alastor was of the Blood Kind; he had no body temperature or breath to begin with. But now, he didn't even have consciousness, as if he truly were a corpse.
"Hey! Alastor, don't scare me!" I shouted, dragging him under the shade of a tree and patting his charred face. "Hey! Don't joke with me. Didn't you say you were over six hundred years old and very powerful?"
"I told you we should have left at night. I wasn't in a hurry, so why were you!" I muttered to myself, panicked. Then, a spark of inspiration hit me, and I leaned down to bite his neck.
Alastor groaned slightly.
I quickly sliced my wrist and pressed it to his lips, letting him drink my blood. Alastor began to suck unconsciously, and the charred skin gradually returned to its original state.
Slowly opening his eyes, Alastor looked at me without blinking.
"How are you?" I asked him cautiously. This was my first time giving someone a First Embrace, even if the recipient was a six-hundred-year-old vampire.
I had given him a Daywalker's First Embrace, granting him the ability to be unafraid of the sun.
"Aurora..." he looked at me, suddenly speaking softly.
"Yes?" I answered quickly.
"You have to protect me."
I nearly fainted.
"I am a Daywalker created by you; you have the obligation to protect me! Darling... you have to protect me..." Alastor leaned in close to me, acting like a spoiled child.
I started wiping sweat from my brow repeatedly.
"Let's go. We must leave the Demon Realm before dark," Alastor said, pulling me up.
"Why?"
"Oh... don't ask me why. Since ancient times, it has been hard to balance love and duty..." Alastor blew me a kiss and said despondently.
I felt a shiver of disgust, but if Alastor said it, he had his reasons. Subconsciously, I knew Alastor wouldn't harm me. After all, when I was turned into a vampire and was at my most helpless, he was always the one helping and protecting me.
"Why... are you so good to me?"
With an extremely handsome face, deep features, and eyes as blue as a clear afternoon sky—the man before me was the Archon of the Camarilla.
No matter what dangers awaited me in the Demon Realm, that was my business. He could have just ignored me. He clearly knew he couldn't walk in the sun, yet he was willing to take the risk just to send me back to the human world.
"Because... you are my most, most, most beloved Aurora!" He puckered his lips and gave my cheek a loud kiss, speaking with a grin as he pulled me into his embrace. "By the oath of blood, I am the Daywalker created by you," he whispered in my ear, devoid of his usual mockery and filled with immense devotion.
He said, "By the oath of blood, I am the Daywalker created by you."
He said, "By the oath of blood, I shall accompany you forever, so that you shall never be lonely..."
